I grew up visiting the Riverwalk and have lived only 30 minutes away for the last 30 years so I have spent my fair share of time dining and enjoying all that the Riverwalk has to offer.

Casa Rio

Mexican – 430 E. Commerce Street

If you want an authentic Mexican dining experience, look no further than Casa Rio on the San Antonio River Walk. Casa Rio is the oldest restaurant on the Riverwalk.

This high-volume, multi-level restaurant has been delighting guests with its delicious Mexican cuisine since printing its first menu in 1946.

They are the OG when it comes to the Tex-Mex fare that is so loved – tamales, enchiladas, chili, rice, and beans. Their menu has evolved through the years but they always stay true to their roots.

Today their menu features, faults, chili con queso, chili con carne, taco salad as well as combination dinners. And you can’t go wrong with the sizzling fajitas and a spicy margarita.

Esquire Tavern
